Vishal Bhardwaj on his reunion with Shahid Kapoor for Arjun Ustara - 'Both of us are...'

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj opened up about his experience working with Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri on Arjun Ustara. The film is currently being shot.

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj's association with Shahid Kapoor dates to 2009, when Kaminey was released. Since then, the director-actor has collaborated on Haider and Rangoon. It was recently confirmed that Vishal and Shahid reunited for an upcoming film, Arjun Ustara. In a recent interview, the director opened up about his reunion with Kapoor. He also shared his experience working with Triptii Dimri and Nana Patekar. The film has been backed by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Arjun Ustara marks Vishal Bhardwaj's reunion with Shahid Kapoor. However, it is his first collaboration with Triptii Dimri and Nana Patekar. About his reunion with Kapoor, Vishal told Mid-Day, "Both of us are excited to come back together. The shooting has been terrific."

He further spoke about working with Triptii and Nana Patekar on the film. Praising both actors, the director mentioned, "Triptii is so lovely, and such a fine actor. This is the first time I’m working with Nana Patekar and I’ve been thinking, Why did I not work with him before?"

For the unversed, Vishal is currently shooting for Arjun Ustara. The film's official announcement was made in 2024. Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment announced the movie will be theatrically released on December 5, 2025. "SajidNadiadwala presents a vishalrbhardwaj film! A spectacular cinematic journey begins on 6th Jan 2025 Film releasing on 5th December 2025 (sic)," the production house wrote.

In the same conversation, Vishal highlighted the value good music brings to a film. The filmmaker, who also composes music for his films, said, "Now, again, a film will work if the songs are a hit. Tauba tauba [Bad Newz, 2024] is cited as an example where the song and step worked, so the film worked. I don’t know if that’s true."

Shahid Kapoor's latest films

On the work front, Shahid Kapoor was recently in Rosshan Andrrews' Deva. The movie received mixed reviews and failed to work at the box office. Before that, the actor shared screen space with Kriti Sanon in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.

As far as his OTT journey is concerned, Kapoor made his debut with Raj & DK's series, Farzi. The series, also starring Raashii Khanna, premiered on Amazon Prime Video. Meanwhile, you can watch some of Shahid Kapoor's movies on OTTplay Premium.
