Now that the trailers of two Sankranthi releases - Veera Simha Reddy and Kalyanam Kamaneeyam - are out and have impressed audiences already, there’s immense curiosity around Waltair Veerayya and if it’ll be able to meet the expectations of fans. A day ahead of its pre-release event, the trailer of the Chiranjeevi, Ravi Teja starrer was out today. Written and directed by Bobby Kolli, the mass entertainer also stars Shruti Haasan, Catherine Tresa, Rajendra Prasad and others.

Much like the earlier promos and the songs, Waltair Veerayya’s trailer too is designed to be a feast for and by a Chiranjeevi fanboy, offering a throwback to many popular films of the star in 1990s. Chiranjeevi, playing the titular character, is introduced as an international drug smuggler who’s being transferred to a different location by a bunch of cops and they’re asked to be on alert mode.

The backdrop shifts to an international location where Shruti Haasan is seen as a receptionist who’s presenting Chiranjeevi a room with a view. He and a group of friends have fun taking a few selfies in popular sites as well. Catherine Tresa plays a medico and there’re a handful of comedy sequences involving the lead cast. There’s a twist in the tale owing to a personal tragedy and Waltair Veerayya goes berserk to protect his near and dear. A cop Vikram enters into the picture to bring things under control.

Prakash Raj, Bobby Simha play negative roles in the action entertainer and the trailer culminates with funny verbal banters between Ravi Teja and Chiranjeevi. Waltair Veerayya promises to be an engaging mix of action, humour and romance. It’s fun to see Chiranjeevi in top form with his comedy timing and not taking himself too seriously. After duds like Acharya and Godfather, this is exactly the safe bet that Chiranjeevi needs to reassert his stamina at the box office.

With cinematography by Arthur A Wilson, the film is edited by Niranjan Devaramane. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the songs for the entertainer which has production design by AS Prakash. Ramajogaiah Sastry, Devi Sri Prasad, Chandrabose, Roll Rida and others have penned the lyrics for the songs. Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar have produced the film under Mythri Movie Makers.
