The film Watusi Zombie opens with a podcast show ‘The Noise’ as the host talks about a book by Betty Jacob on the five interesting people. Grindset Gabriel, a standup comedian, who is also featured in the book, shares his anecdotes during the show. And the film seamlessly travels back and forth in timeline.

The film is also written by director Cyril Abraham Dennis, and the conversations and the scenarios flow seamlessly even though it doesn’t follow a pattern the Malayali audiences are used to seeing. Though a unique and one-of-a-kind attempt, Watusi Zombie does announce the arrival of new-age filmmaking.

Abdul Ahad plays the lead role of Gabriel, while Varun Gokul is seen as Betty Jacob and Ananatha Krishnan is seen as the podcast host. Another interesting character Shruthin Vasanth is played by Shurthi Vasanth and Diya Sara Santhosh is seen as ‘Gospel Girl’ Sarah. Sidharth Rengan and Saurav Suresh are also part of the film. Rohan Muraleedharan is the DOP of the film, which is set in Kochi before the pandemic.
