Dramedy teaser

Akshay stars in the newly released promotional video, which combines comic elements with intense dramatic moments. Daulatram Sukhia, the patriarch of the family, passes away in the beginning of the video. A lawyer goes over a will that lists a lot of valuable possessions, such as a 40-room "Hawai Mahal", fifty tolas of gold, and a number of jewels.

A disagreement about the meaning of a single letter is the source of the hilarity. The wealthy relative thinks the name "Ram" is put down as the beneficiary of the bequest, but the lawyer points out that the name is actually "Ramu"—Akshay as faithful servant. The servant, who is shown massaging the heir apparent's feet, suddenly learns that he has inherited the entire fortune because he added the letter "u" to his name.

Game show stage

The video ends with Akshay stepping out of his Ramu role and into his identity on a massive, neon-lit Wheel of Fortune stage. Akshay emphasises the central dynamic of the show by saying, "Ab matter karega har ek akshar, jab ghumega jaadu ka chakka." (Now every single letter will matter when the magic wheel spins.)

According to SPNI, Wheel of Fortune India is their most important integrated media launch to date. With the show's anchoring on SET and Sony LIV (OTTplay Premium), the network hopes to leverage digital media's pinpoint connection with linear TV's vast audience.

Interactive viewer engagement

Sony LIV's "Play Along" interactive function will be a highlight of the Indian edition. This connects the show to viewers at home by letting them solve puzzles in real-time with the contestants.

With adaptations in more than 60 countries, Wheel of Fortune has established itself as the most watched television game show in the world, according to Guinness World Records.

Akshay Kumar's vision for the show

According to Akshay's statement, the actor is "truly thrilled" to deliver the Indian version of the popular game show to Indian consumers. The excitement of solving puzzles and their appeal to people of all ages have made them a favourite around the world.

In early 2026, the series is anticipated to make its debut.
