90s hit actress Karisma Kapoor was married at the peak of her career. She gained superstardom, which is when she decided to settle down for her now ex-husband Sanjay Kapur. Karisma had called off her engagement with Abhishek Bachchan to get married.

Soon after, her marriage fell apart. According to various reports, Karisma had accused Sanjay of domestic violence.

In fact, in one police complaint, as reported by ETimes, she shared that Sanjay had asked his mother to slap Karisma. The reason? The actress could not fit into her dress after pregnancy.

Back then, Karisma had accused Sanjay of getting married to her only for fame. She stated that he married her because she was a successful star and he wanted the press around him, covering his life. Meanwhile, he had accused Karisma of marrying him for money.

Karisma had tied the knot with Sanjay in 2003 in a high-profile Sikh wedding at her ancestral home. The two officially separated in 2016 but had filed for divorce in 2014.

The actress was engaged to Abhishek in 2002 and the two called it splits within a few months. The two have still not given a reason behind their falling apart.

Karisma is currently raising her kids Samairaa and Kiaan as a single mother. She has refused to be in a relationship citing she wants to focus on her responsibilities of being a mother.

Reportedly, Karisma has received Sanjay’s house, Rs. 14 crores bond in the name of the kids (Rs 10 lakhs interest per month) as alimony for the divorce and raising the kids. The actress was last seen in the AltBalaji series Mentalhood, which also marked her OTT debut.
