Thaai Kizhavi, the upcoming Tamil film starring Radikaa Sarathkumar in the lead role, was slated for release this week, now stands postponed to a later date. The makers have put out a statement giving out the reason on why they chose to move to a later date.

Thai Kizhavi release date postponed: When is Radikaa’s next film coming out?

We had earlier announced that the Tamil film titled Thaai Kizhavi will be hitting theatres on February 20. However, recently, the makers announced a delay, with the film now releasing next week. As per the new update, Thaai Kizhavi will release on February 27.

On Sunday, the makers had put out a statement confirming the delay, and the reasons behind it. “With the prevailing situation and the ambiguity surrounding the films slated for release on the 20th, we have decided to reschedule the release of our film to 27th February. This decision has not been easy for us," the statement said. Further the makers also said that they stand by their decision and commitment to release Thaai Kizhavi in February to honour their agreement with digital and satellite partners.

What do we know about Thaai Kizhavi?

Thaai Kizhavi is a rural drama starring Radikaa Sarathkumar as Pavunthaayi, an extroverted and boisterous elderly woman, who is feared by all in village. The actor had to go through long prosthetic procedures and make-up to transform into her character. Billed to be a comedy entertainer, Radikaa who has been seen in supporting characters, play the lead role in Thaai Kizhavi.

The film is helmed by debutant director Sivakumar Murugesan. The cast includes actors Singam Puli, Arul Doss, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, Muthukumar, Raichal Rabecca and others in supporting roles. Sivakarthikeyan is backing the film. JioHotstar has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film and will also be available via OTTplay Premium.
