Rhea Chakraborty turned a year older on Friday and while sending her a birthday wish, Tollywood producer Rana Sarkar took to social media to offer her a role. On Twitter, Rana wrote to her to come to Kolkata and join the Tollywood brigade.

However, when contacted, Rana told OTTplay that it is not just a social media birthday wish. His team has indeed gotten in touch with Rhea’s manager with a script. “We have a ready script and she fits perfectly well with one of the lead characters. It is a story of betrayal. Rhea speaks good Bengali and that will help. I have seen her performance,” said the producer, who won the National Award for Anjan Dutt’s Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona.

As per sources, the new script deals with two female leads. The one that is chosen for Rhea is an actress in Mumbai. Rana also added, “I think Rhea’s career is being jeopardised for no fault of her. She went through a lot of trouble and she is also not getting roles in Mumbai. She has been haunted for being someone’s girlfriend and for being Bengali. I genuinely think she deserves better.” The actress was last seen in Rummy Jafry's Chehre in 2021. She was seen alongside Emran Hashmi and Amitabh Bachchan. Recently, the Narcotics Control Bureau has filed charges against Rhea and her brother Showik in a case connected to Sushanth Singh Rajput’s death.

Rana Sarkar, meanwhile, has taken up a number of Bengali films. Srijato’s directorial debut, Manabjamin, which features Parambrata Chatterjee, Priyanka Sarkar and Paran Bandyopadhyay in lead, is in its last leg of production. Meanwhile, Randeep Ghosh’s Bonbibi that features Panro Mitra and Ranojoy Bishnu will be released soon. Rana has also teamed up with Srijit Mukherji, Parambrata Chatterjee and Rajul Banerjee for several other projects.
