With its light-hearted nature, breezy take on modern-day romance, With Love explores the niche facets of relationships. With Love OTT release ending explained: How did Sathya and Monisha meet?

Sathya is a graphic designer and any other average young man who is averse towards meeting girls set up by his family. But he is forced to go on a blind date set up by his sister, and that is where he meets Monisha, an influencer. They get talking, and their conversations lead to Monisha recognising him as his senior in school when they studied in Trichy.

It is at this time when Sathya begins to open up about his childhood romance, and how he was in love with his classmate Anisha, a Muslim girl. Even as we are taken down the memory lane, by showing school days, the exam tension, fear of speaking to opposite gender. But soon Sathya’s dream to propose Anisha comes shattering down when his friend reveals that he and Anisha are already seeing each other. Soon Sathya severs friendship with his friend, and drowns in sorrows of not being able to be with Anisha, forget proposing her.

Meanwhile, Monisha opens up about her school love, and how she was a tom-boy in love with her classmate Balaji. A hostel student, notorious girl, Monisha spent time with her two friends. It was during an exam when Monisha sat to a much-intelligent and studious Balaji and even cheated on exam using his answer sheets. When Balaji takes up the blame inside the exam hall, Monisha begins to fall more for him. The night she decides to confess his love to Balaji, happens to be the same night when Sathya engaged in a fight with his friend over Anisha. Balaji who felt scared and ran away from the scene, later comes to know Monisha spread the news that he is a frightened mouse, when it was actually Monisha’s friend Sandhya who did it. There comes an end to Monisha’s one-sided romance.

What Monisha proposes to do?

After Sathya and Monisha share their school stories, Monisha comes up with a plan. Before they take a call on their own relationship, Monisha proposes that they go back to their school, find their crushes and express their past feelings to them. Sathya thinks it is the right time to spend more time with Monisha and nods to the plan as they travel back to their school in Trichy.

What happens in Trichy?

Now in Trichy, Sathya and Monisha attend a wedding of one of their schoolmate’s sister. There, Sathya meets his school teacher with whom he had past. Back in the past, Monisha’s friend Sandhya had an issue with her boyfriend in girl’s washroom, which was misconstrued by Sathya as the teacher peeking into the girl’s washroom. Cut to present, Sathya apologises to his teacher for acting on his impulse behaviour. Meanwhile, Sathya gets a request from a fake account, the same fan account that follows Monisha and is a die-hard fan of hers. Monisha also reveals that he texted her but does not reveal what it is about.

Killed by curiosity, Sathya takes Monisha’s phone on the pretence of calling and sees the message. Overwhelmed by knowing Monisha called him his fiancé, Sathya sneaks in and keeps her phone back. Monisha comes to know about it and fumes anger on Sathya.

Did Sathya confess his feelings to Anisha?

Sathya and Monisha visit their school and reconnect with some familiar faces. There, they get Anishas contact who is through her second pregnancy and will be in city in a few days. Monisha sets up a date between Anisha and Sathya. A frightened Sathya, gathers courage to meet Anisha, who reveals that she always knew his feelings towards her. Finally, Sathya gifts her with a drawing he had done during school, and finally expresses his love. Anisha, overwhelmed by his actions, blushes and reveals that she would have accepted him had he proposed to her.

What happened between Monisha and Balaji?

Sathya manages to locate Balaji who is now in Chennai and travel flights for them to go back home. It is at this time, when we are revealed that Balaji was always in love with Monisha ever since school, but was too meek to admit. He is also revealed to be the fake fan account who had been stalking the duo for long. Now that Balaji and Monisha meet, he confesses his feelings and how he couldn’t gather courage during their school days to approach her. Sathya leaves the duo to talk it out, as he rushes back home for a family emergency. But as Balaji proposes to her, Monisha dismisses it as only a feeling that persisted during school and that she is over it.

Did Sathya and Monisha unite or drift apart?

Throughout the film, it is shown how Sathya struggles with commitment and unresolved feelings from his past, while Monisha approaches relationships with a more casual outlook. As they reconnect and bond during the trip down the memory lane, they spend more time together. Their bond deepens beyond misunderstandings.

The climax of the film arrives when these unresolved feelings finally come to the surface. Sathya realises that his reluctance to commit is rooted in fear rather than logic. Sathya makes a sincere effort to express his love to Monisha. Meanwhile, Monisha, who has also grown throughout the story, recognises the sincerity of his words. She understands that Sathya’s hesitation was never about a lack of feelings, but about his fear of vulnerability. Now that she is over Balaji, Monisha begins to embark on a new relationship with Sathya.
