Sikander, the 2025 Hindi action thriller starring actor Salman Khan, hit theatres on Sunday, March 30, for the occasion of Eid. Director AR Murugadoss, who has given hit films, directed Sikandar, which unfortunately could not resonate with audience this time. The Salman Khan-starrer failed to win over fans, and met with negative reviews.

With Sikandar struggling at the box office despite headlined by a superstar, and AR Murugadoss who has given hit films in Hindi and Tamil, all eyes now turn to the director’s next film down south, with Sivakarthikeyan fresh from the success of Amaran. The duo is set to collaborate for Madharasi. So, will Sivakarthikeyan’s stardom save the upcoming film or Murugadoss’ Hindi failure pull down the anticipations?

It was a while ago the makers announced a collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and AR Murugadoss for a Tamil film titled Madharasi. The hype for the collaboration had peaked, given Sivakarthikeyan who is strongly and steadily on the path of stardom, will be seen in an actioner created by Murugadoss, a hitmaker once a upon a time. After giving hits like Dheera, Ramanaa, Ghajini, 7 Aum Arivu, Thuppakki and Kaththi, which has elevated every star, including the likes of Ajith, Suriya and Vijay, Madharasi announcement came as a delightful news.

But with AR Murugadoss’ latest Hindi film Sikandar starring Salman Khan, meeting with negative reception, this has certainly turned attention on the filmmaker’s next with Sivakarthikeyan. Now the question looms, will Sivakarthikeyan who is fresh off the success of Amaran, be still be able to create the hype for Madharasi?

Madharasi also marks AR Murugadoss’ return to Tamil cinema nearly after five years, since the release of the 2020 Rajinikanth-starrer Darbar. Too soon to jump into conclusions, given the makers of Madharasi are yet to announce the release date and release trailer, the film is expected to be an actioner which will show Sivakarthikeyan in a different light.

All about Madharasi

Madharasi will release in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, while it will be called Dil Madharasi in Hindi. The upcoming project is bankrolled by the production banner Sri Lakshmi Movies. Expected to be an action thriller, it will have Kannada actor Rukmini Vasanth play the female lead, marking her debut in the Tamil film industry. Other part of the cast include Vidyut Jammwal, who had paired up with Murugadoss in Thuppaki, and will be returning as the antagonist of the film, Vikranth, Biju Menon, and Shabeer Kallarakkal among others. Madhrasi will have music by Anirudh Ravichander.
