Raju Srivastava-the celebrated comedian

Raju Srivastava has become one of the most celebrated comedians in India. The actor started his career with The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and made his way into the movies by doing small cameos. His punchlines and comic timing have made him a memorable personality. Even after staying away from the spotlight for a few years now, Raju is still relevant in the comic world. Raju Srivastava’s early life

Raju was born on 25 December 1963 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Coming from a middle-class Kayastha family, his father is a very famous poet, Rameshchandra Srivastava who is also known as Balai Kaka.

His initial career

Raju got the title of King of Comedy on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He gained fame and money through the very popular show which aired on Star One. He then used to mimic Amitabh Bachchan in his comedy. Soon his acting prowess landed him small roles in Bollywood.

His acting career

Raju did small roles in the Rajshri Productions movie Maine Pyar Kiya. He also worked in other films like Baazigar and Bombay to Goa. He was also featured in Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya. Despite his brief appearances, Raju kept the audiences hooked with his comic timing.

His television career

Along with acting in Bollywood, Raju made a shift to television and did some smaller roles on the medium. He acted in shows like Adaalat, Shaktimaan and Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai among others. He was a contestant on the television reality show Bigg Boss 3 and even featured on Nach Baliye 6 along with his wife, Shikha in 2013.

His entry into politics

Raju got a ticket from Samajwadi Party for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections but soon returned the ticket after getting to know that he does not hold majority support amongst the audience. After that, he soon joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014. Prime Minister Narendra Modi even made him the brand ambassador of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan for which he ended up doing cleanliness drives and shooting for ad commercials on television.

Raju got married to Shikha in 1993. The couple has been together since then and has two children together Antara and Ayushman.
