Badrinath Ki Dulhania turns 5: Actors apart from Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt who played an amazing role but went unnoticed

Badrinath remembered for Varun, Alia and KJo but various actors played brilliant roles

Badrinath Ki Dulhania completed half a decade (5 years) since its release today. The movie is known to be Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar's collaboration but the film also had various actors who were a part of equally powerful scenes. Unfortunately though, they went unnoticed during the film's release. Here are a few of them that deserve the applauds...

1/9

Sahil Vaid

Sahil Vaid has constantly played Varun's best friend in the Dulhania franchise. He was the closest friend Badrinath had and this guy actually played cupid between Badri and Vaidehi. He followed Badri across Kota just to be there in times of need like when Badri breaks down after Vaidehi insults him. A best friend indeed!,

2/9

Shweta Basu Prasad

Shweta made her comeback of sorts with Badrinath Ki Dulhania . She played quite a subtle character in the movie as Badri's sister-in-law. She represented what a woman could become and aims to become but eventually becomes when bogged down by her in-laws. Badri saw and understood what he didn't want Vaidehi to be after she marries him, through Shweta's character, Urmila. One of the most powerful scenes featuring her happens to be the last scene where she is literally on a balancing scale so her family can pay up her dowry according to her weight. Believe it or not, this is something that actually happens in Indian societies even today.

3/9

Gaurav Pandey

In the role of Gurmeet Singh Lamba, Gaurav Pandey came as a refreshing yet important face in the Dulhania franchise. His revelation scene with Badri was a huge highlight. He did not make a huge revelation - just that he isn't Vaidehi's boyfriend but it was a powerful scene nonetheless. His transformation from a DJ to a loverboy was quite adorable, to be completely honest.

4/9

Rituraj Singh

Rituraj Singh is a great actor anyway. He was offered to play the role of Badri's greedy father this time around. Of course, since Ashutosh Rana had played Kavya (Alia)'s father in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania already, Rituraj was barely a match for him but for his role, he did a good job.

Special mentions - Swanand Kirkire as Vaidehi's father

Swanand Kirkire played the sweet father to Vaidehi. He was a heart patient who carried a cylinder everywhere for emergency purposes. While his role was sweet, he played a sweeter role in the Marathi film Chumbak which released the same year.

6/9

Aparshakti Khurana as Badri's friend and later brother-in-law

Meanwhile Aparshakti Khurana transformed into a quiet character after his dhakkad debut in Aamir Khan's Dangal. He was almost naive as Bhushan Kumar, who is Vaidehi's jiju and Badri's friend-turned-brother-in-law.

7/9

Yash Sinha as Badri's brother

Yash Sinha was given a rather serious role as Badrinath's older brother Alok. Thus, he could not explore his acting potential to the fullest but the part that he played, it was good enough for the film.

8/9

Aakanksha Singh as Vaidehi's friend

TV actress (best known for playing the lead in Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha) Aakanksha Singh made a cameo appearance in Badrinath Ki Dulhania. She played Vaidehi's friend and gelled well with Badri but that was all that was to her role.

9/9

Gauahar Khan as a cop

Gauahar Khan also made a cameo appearance as a cop. Not many would remember but she played the cop who handled Badri's case. He was detained on charges of harassing Vaidehi. He had flown down to Singapore in order to find and be with her for his own selfish reasons.
