IPL 2022: Here are 9 players to look out for in playoffs, who can be a real gamechanger

IPL Playoff gamechangers

The IPL season is coming to an end soon as four teams head into the playoffs. After two qualifiers and an eliminator, two teams will head to the IPL final where one team will crown themselves as champions. As we enter the playoff stages, here are nine players who could make a big difference to their teams and ones, fans need to keep an eye out for as they stream the matches on Disney+ Hotstar.

1/9

Jos Buttler

This has to be the most obvious name in a list of players to look out for in the playoffs. The Englishman has been smashing runs all around the park throughout the season and is also the holder of the Orange Cap. With three hundreds and three fifties, he has been a man in fine form. As Rajasthan Royals look to make it to another IPL final and win it, Jos Buttler could play an important part in how it shapes.

2/9

Faf du Plessis

The South African player took over Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captaincy from Virat Kohli at the start of this season and the pressure has not affected him. While he remains fifth in the Orange Cap race, he has had better seasons in the IPL. But what makes Faf a man to look out for, is his prowess under pressure when it comes to the big games, and RCB has a big game ahead of them.

3/9

Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal left RCB after a long stint with the franchise to join Rajasthan Royals this season. Though he has changed jerseys, his impeccable knack to pick up wickets have not changed. The leggie is currently leading the race for the Purple Cap and his expertise would come in handy when they take on Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium.

4/9

Wanindu Hasaranga

Cricket fans know Wanindu Hasarnaga can bowl. It was just a question of whether the Sri Lankan spinner could make it happen at the IPL. He answered the question very early on and has continued his form with the ball. He is only two wickets behind Purple Cap holder Chahal and his spin skillset could be the turning point in RCB’s game against Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Garden.

5/9

Shubman Gill

Gill has had two half-centuries in the last five games of Gujarat Titans and is also the team’s second highest run getter after captain Hardik Pandya. While Pandya’s magic is something that we all expect to see in the playoffs, a lot would depend on how Shubman Gill performs for the IPL newbies.

6/9

Avesh Khan

Lucknow Super Giants has surprised everyone by making it to the IPL playoffs in their first-ever season. Avesh Khan has spearheaded their bowling attack this season and has 17 wickets so far. Avesh along with Mohsin Khan will have to put up another impressive performance for LSG as they hope to make it to the IPL final.

7/9

Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik might not be someone your eyes catch immediately on a cricket pitch, but he has returned as a new man. DK has been an important player for RCB in the middle, using his composure and big hitting to the maximum when it comes to the death overs. With his recent call up to the Indian national team for the South Africa T20I Series, he will look to keep doing what he did best so far. And his best would mean the best for RCB as well.

8/9

Quinton De Kock

Another South African, De Kock smashed 140 not out in their last game. While KL Rahul is an important player in the Lucknow Super Giants’ batting lineup, we should expect big things from De Kock. If he can play at the back of his form and start where he finished off last game, IPL fans can witness another treat, this time in the eliminator.

9/9

Rashid Khan

The Afghan spinner has weaved magic time and time again in the IPL and rarely, seems to have a below average game. While he is always capable of pulling a fast ball over the batsman and getting a wicket, his ability to not give away runs will come in handy for the Gujarat Titans, as they head to the first qualifier.
