Shershaah: A tale of love, loss, and sacrifice
Shershaah completed one year of its release on Friday. The biographical action drama, which had a digital release became a hit amongst the audience and one of the most watched films on Amazon Prime Video. The movie also helped Sidharth Malhotra reestablish himself as a formidable presence on the silver screen and the actor was widely praised for his performance as Captain Vikram Batra. The movie also has a special place in the hearts of fans for its melodious soundtrack, comprising of songs like "Ranjha" and "Mann Bharaya 2.0." The film also features Kiara Advani, Shiv Pandit and Nikitin Dheer among others. On it's one-year anniversary, here’s a look back at the popular film.

Captain Vikram Batra: An indelible legacy
Shershaah’s story is based on the real-life story of Captain Vikram Batra who was a martyr in The 1991 Kargil War. The indelible legacy that Viram left behind is tough to capture but the film does justice to his sacrifice and pays the much-needed tribute that the unsung hero deserved.

The plotline of the film
The film centers on Vikram and his aspiration of joining the army. He is passionate to fight for the safety of his country but soon encounters Dimple, played by Kiara Advani who refuses to accept his decision to join the army. The couple eventually sorts out their differences, and Vikram fulfills his dream. The movie tries to capture the emotion behind his relationships whether be it with his family or with Dimple and also takes us through his passionate journey of fulfilling his dream.

Sidharth Malhotra as Captain Vikram Batra
Shershaah features Sidharth Malhotra in double roles first as Vikram Batra in the whole movie and in the climax as his twin brother Vishal Batra. It re-established the charm of Sidharth on screen as the actor had been facing a lot of flops before this. Shershaah brought him his recognition back and his acting skills were much loved and appreciated by the audience.

Kiara Advani as Dimple Cheema
Kiara plays the role of Dimple Chemma, Vikram's love interest. The duo meet each other in their college and soon fall in love. The direction beautifully portrays the emotion of love and separation between these two. It is painful yet bewitching to watch them getting separated. Kiara has picked up the Punjabi accent quite well and suits the part perfectly.

The supporting cast
Nikitin Dheer and Shiv Pandit suit their part perfectly as Vikram’s colleagues in the army. They are good with their action sequences and their body language and physique give the impression of an army person. Sahil Vad is refreshing and pleasing to the eyes with his limited screen time. He plays the part of Vikram's friend and plays the part with utmost conviction. Bijay Anand also received much-deserved recognition for his performance as Dimple's father. He plays the role of a strict Sikh father who forbids his daughter from marrying Vikram.

Music of Shershaah
Apart from power-packed performances and an interesting plotline, the soulful soundtrack of the film also gained everyone's attention. The climax is shot with the backdrop of Mann Bharya 2.0, a remake of the Punjabi song Mann Bharyaa by B. Praak. Ranjha, another track by B. Praak became quite popular along with Raatan Lambiyan by Jubin Nautiyal and Asees Kaur.
