Golden Globes to take place without celebrities, audience members

The 79th Golden Globe Awards, scheduled for Sunday, will be hosted at the Beverly Hilton, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced on Tuesday. The 90 minute-ceremony will see winners being announced virtually. The organizers have confirmed that there will be no celebrities, non-HFPA members or audience present at the event in light of the growing coronavirus pandemic.

Vanessa Kirby will replace Jodie Comer in Ridley Scott’s Kitbag

Vanessa Kirby is in talks to feature in Ridley Scott’s Kitbag, replacing Killing Eve star Jodie Comer. The film, which features Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon, will be backed by Apple. Kirby is set to play Josephine, with whom Napoleon shared a romantic bond. Kitbag follows the Frenchman’s rise to power on the battlefield and off it. The storyline also focuses on his love story with Josephine.

Chris Evans reunites with Knives Out director for new project

Chris Evans is reuniting with his Knives Out director Rian Johnson for a new film. If reports are to be believed, Evans has been tapped to play the role of legendary actor Gene Kelly. The story has also been conceived by Evans, which is about a young boy employed at MGM in 1952 striking up an imaginary friendship with the Singin’ in the Rain star.

Jessica Chastain turns executive producer

Jessica Chastain is turning executive producer for an upcoming show titled The School for Good Mothers. The show will be based on Jessamine Chan’s upcoming dystopian novel and follows a mother who is questioned on her ability to carry out the duties of being a mother after she leaves her daughter for a few hours.

Joan Hartnett joins Nolan’s Oppenheimer

Josh Hartnett, who shot to fame in the 2000s after starring roles in Black Hawk Down and Pearl Harbor is returning to the spotlight with Christopher Nolan’s next blockbuster Oppenheimer. Hartnett was once considered for the role of Batman in Nolan’s Batman Begins, which ultimately went to Christian Bale. For the biopic, Oppenheimer, he joins a star-studded ensemble of Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. Florence Pugh, and Rami Malek.

Gehraiyaan gets a new release date

Shakun Batra’s upcoming romantic drama, starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, Dhairya Karwa, Naseeruddin Shah, and Rajat Kapoor, is set to be released on February 11. The film will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
