Multilingual thriller Muddy to premiere on Amazon Prime Video
Weeks after its theatrical release, mud-racing thriller Muddy will now have its OTT premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 31. Written and directed by Dr. Pragabhal, the film is touted to be the first Indian movie about an off-road mud race. The film stars Yuvan Krishna, Ridhaan Krishna, and Anusha Suresh in lead roles, and was released in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English.
Sukanya Girish signs new film Bhairava
Kannada actress Sukanya Girish, who was seen in cameo appearances in Ramesh Aravind’s Shivaji Surathkal: Ranagiri Rahasya and 100, will now make her feature film debut as the female protagonist of the upcoming rom-com Kailasa Kasidre. Apart from this, she has also given her nod to a new film titled Bhairava, which will be directed by Psycho and Salt and Pepper director Ram Teja. The male actor in the film is yet to be revealed.
Producers of Arcane ordered to pay $100 million in a gender discrimination lawsuit
Riot Games, the producers of acclaimed Netflix animated series, Arcane, and video game developers have settled a long-standing dispute with their female employees. The company has been asked to pay $80 million to its current and former female staff after the lawsuit was filed in 2018 for the discrimination they endured within the company because of their gender. An additional $20 million will be paid for the legal expenses incurred.
Netflix series Cheer renewed for season two amidst controversy
The 2020 Netflix docuseries which follows the Navarro College Bulldogs Cheer Team has been renewed for a second season. The decision comes despite the ongoing federal case surrounding its breakout star Jerry Harris, who has been accused of producing child pornography. The second season will focus on the case after additional charges were leveled against him in December 2020.
Last Looks to feature Charlie Hunnam and Mel Gibson
RLJE Films has now taken up the North American rights to Last Looks, which also features Charlie Hunnam and Mel Gibson.
The action-comedy, adapted by Howard Michael Gould, follows the character of Charlie Waldo (Hunnam), LAPD’s former popular officer who quit the force to now lead a life of isolation and simplicity deep within the woods. A sudden turn of events leads him to come back to action and solve a mysterious case.
The film is scheduled to release theatrically in the US in February.
GV Prakash's Ayngaran to release soon
GV Prakash's Ayngaran was scheduled to release on Sony LIV for quite some time but never had any official confirmation. But the makers have reportedly zeroed in on a release date for the film. As per sources, the Ravi Arasu-directorial will be released on January 26.
