The Oscars 2022 - List hai toh hit hai

It's the Oscars season! Filmmakers, actors, and fans eagerly wait in anticipation as the coveted Academy Awards decides on the best films and performances of the year. On today's List hai toh hit hai podcast we take a look at the major Oscar contenders for this year. We at OTTplay have narrowed down the list to six major categories with contenders who we believe should win and who we think the Academy might pick as the winners of the prestigious Oscar awards.
Let's begin!

  1. Best Actor
tick, tick...BOOM! star Andrew Garfield, who essayed his career-best performance in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical is our pick as to who should win it. While the amazing Spider-Man, Garfield, is our top pick, we believe that Benedict Cumberbatch’s colossal performance in Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog will win the coveted prize.
  2. Best Actress
Our pick as to who should win it is none other than British acting royalty, Olivia Colman, for her stunning performance in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Lost Daughter. However, we believe that Jessica Chastain’s captivating portrayal of the evangelist singer Tammy Faye, in the film The Eyes of Tammy Faye will win the Oscar.
  3. Best Director
For the best filmmaker or director category, there are several names that deserve recognition. British actor and director, Kenneth Branagh for his film Belfast is our pick for Best Director for the Oscars this year. But we get the feeling that The Power of the Dog director, Jane Campion might just edge it. What are your thoughts on that
  4. Writing ( Best Adapted Screenplay)
For the best-adapted screenplay, we have picked two of our favorites , who we believe delivered the best-adapted story this year. The first one is Dune based on Frank Herbert’s novel adapted by Jon Spaihts, Denis Villeneuve, and Eric Roth; and the second one is The Power of the dog based on Thomas Savage’s novel adapted by Jane Campion. However, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s adaptation of Elena Ferrante’s novel for The Lost Daughter is the favorite to win the award.
  5. Writing ( Best Original Screenplay)
Kenneth Branagh’s original story about a young boy during the ethno-nationalist conflict, called The Troubles, in 60s Belfast Northern Ireland is our pick for Best Original screenplay. But the screenplay which we believe is going to win is Joachim Trier and Eskil Vogt’s original story for the Norwegian film The Worst Person in the World.
  6. Best picture
Denis Villeneuve’s magnum opus Dune has wowed audiences across the globe. While we believe that the film, which has been nominated for a whopping 10 categories, is our choice for Best Picture, it has a worthy competitor in the form of The Power of the Dog. Jane Campion’s western drama could be the Academy’s pick for Best Picture this year.

Well these are our picks for some of the popular categories for this year’s Oscars for today’s List hai toh hit hai, until the next podcast its your host Nikhil signing out.
