The Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas made his film debut in the 2012 film Prabhuvinte Makkal. In 2013, he appeared alongside Dulquer Salmaan in the movie ABCD and later in 2014, he appeared in the movie 7th Day which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role.
His breakthrough year was in 2017 when he appeared in three commercially successful movies, Oru Mexican Aparatha Godha, and Mayanadhi.
His titular role of a young man who gets superpowers, in the 2021 Basil Joseph directorial venture, Minnal Murali earned him significant critical and commercial acclaim. In 2022, he starred in the action comedy movie, Thallumaala, which was also a critical and commercial success. His latest film, 2018, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph has become the highest grossing Malayalam film of all time.
