The Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly made his debut when he was cast in one of the five lead roles for Vineeth Sreenivasan's directorial debut, Malarvadi Arts Club. His breakthrough role came in 2012 when he played Vinod, a Hindu man who falls in love with a Muslim girl in Vineeth Sreenivasan's second directorial venture, Thattathin Marayathu. The release of this movie made Nivin a popular household name. He also played the lead role in Alphonse Puthren's directorial debut, Neram in 2013.
In 2015, he starred in Puthren's second film, Premam which became a blockbuster hit and was remade in Telugu.
He received a Filmfare Award for Best Actor in Malayalam for his performance in Action Hero Biju in 2016. In 2020, he received a special mention by the Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actor.
His latest movie Thuramukham directed by Rajeev Ravi releases on OTT on April 28th 2023.
