Indian stand-up comedy has had a roaring fan base in the recent past. With Vir Das being one of the earliest pioneers of the concept of stand-up, Indian comedians were quick to follow suit and prepare improv sets that have enamoured audiences and tickled their funny bones to the core. With groups like The Viral Fever (TVF), AIB, SnG and the like, the comedy scene soon proliferated to become a full-fledged industry.

Soon, streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Disney Hotstar backing comedy specials, artists and performers started presenting one-hour gigs that received raving reviews. Many solo artists like Mallika Dua, Kanan Gill and Danish Sait even went on to be part of shows and films.
