The Englishman came into prominence with the critically-acclaimed BBC television series Sherlock a modern retelling of Arthur Conan Doyal’s iconic fictional detective. Cumberbatch’s portrayal of the enigmatic Sherlock Holmes reimagined in present-day London propelled him to instant stardom. The series ran for four successful seasons where Cumberbatch starred alongside Martin Freeman who played the role of Dr. John Watson. Cumberbatch has since acted in several critically-acclaimed films such as Star Trek: Into the Darkness, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Doctor Strange, Avengers Infinity War, and The Imitation Game. His latest film, The Courier a spy-thriller, has also attained critical success and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
