The DC Extended Universe is coming to a close. New DC boss James Gunn is set to reboot the franchise with the newly rebranded DCU. There were several successful DC films before the advent of DCEU/DCU such as Tim Burton’s Batman, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, Constantine and Watchmen. DC has released several popular movies over the last decade such as 2013's Man of Steel and the 2017 movie Wonder Woman. Along with popular superheroes such as Batman and Superman, the DC has also adapted comic books about superheroes such as Shazam and Black Adam in recent years, and even films anti-heroes and villains such as the Suicide Squad and the Joker.
Aquaman released in 2018 is the highest-grossing DC film of all time.
James Gunn recently announced that he will be directing and writing a new Superman reboot film titled Superman: Legacy. It is among the several DC projects announced by DC boss Gunn and co-head Peter Safran.
