Celluloid released in 2013, and Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, released in 1989, are two Malayalam period dramas that received much critical and commercial acclaim. The Telugu period drama movie, RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, told the fictionalised story of two Indian freedom fighters. The movie was critically acclaimed all over the world, earning multiple awards.
