Police Vari Hecharika Review: Ajay Ghosh shines in this film which also has stellar performances by Himaja and Subhaleka Sudhakar. The story is routine but the taking is decent.

Police Vari Hecharika is set in a small village where a criminal gang operates in the most deadly manner. Their only job is to kill VIPs and extort money. As the police and judicial system fail to nab them, a social activist named Satya Murthy (Ajay Ghosh) springs into action and questions the system. The rest of the story is about how Satya Murthy brings about change and how the criminal gang is finally nabbed by the cops.

Police Vaari Hecharika is written and directed by Babji and is a social drama set against a crime backdrop. What happens when crime goes unchecked in society, and a powerless man starts fighting against it? This aspect has been set against the backdrop of a unique crime, which catches your imagination right away.
The manner in which the crimes are established looks interesting in the beginning. But one also gets the feeling that there is way too much crime showcased, with a few repeated scenes. However, the twists showcased are a bit predictable and can be foreseen quite early. But it is the performances that hold your attention. Some of the seasoned actors from Telugu cinema play key roles in this film, and they are pretty good.
The screenplay is a tad dull in places that need a lot of attention. The basic motive behind the gang and how they commit the crimes is not established properly. But all this is covered up thanks to the gritty action sequences, which have been well thought out.
The thrill factor that the film generates is quite good. Though the narration is a bit predictable, the thrills grab your attention for the most part. The production values of the film are top-notch and keep the proceedings gripping.
The best part of the film is the social message sent. The way crime is organized, how politics are involved, and how the cops are helpless is showcased in an engaging manner. But the film has some major flaws as well. There is nothing novel showcased in the proceedings. The crime setup and the way things unfold in the hands of law enforcement have been showcased in so many films to date.
Coming to the performances, we all know what kind of a solid actor Ajay Ghosh is. He gets a solid role and delivers it with aplomb. It is only because of his character that the film looks impactful for the most part. Be it his dialogues or screen presence, Ajay delivers a solid performance.
Himja, the lesser-known actor, gets a key role and is surprisingly good, delivering more than what is expected of her. The way she portrays negative shades in her character is quite good. Babji, the director, also plays a key role and was good within his limitations. Jaya Vahini as the cop is neat.
Subhaleka Sudhakar, Ravi Kale, and Sayaji Shinde are seen in small yet impactful roles and bring a lot of depth to the film.. The dialogues are powerful, and so is the background score by Gajwel Venu. The production design is neat, and the manner in which the crime drama is executed is passable.
On the whole, Police Vari Hecharika is a passable crime drama that has some very good performances. Though the story is routine and the backdrop has been dealt with in many films to date, the noted actors, their screen presence, and the way the film questions society looks interesting.
