Review

The makers of Writer Padmabhushan, Anurag Reddy, Sharath Chandra, Chandru Manoharan were holding paid premieres from the last week or so in both the Telugu states. This gave an idea how confident they were with their product and true to their belief, this family drama lives up to all the hype created. The slice of life family drama is all about confidence, subtle family emotions and lots of fun.

The entire first half is filled with fun moments as the antics created by the lead actor Suhas will leave you in splits. Be it his innocent expressions or comedy timing, this young actor shows it all. Suhas is a very talented actor who started his career from short films and with Writer Padmabhushan, he turns another page in his career. His performance in the climax will surely leave you with a heavy heart. The way he enacted his character with sheer confidence shows what kind of a performer he is. This is just the beginning for him and he has a long way to go.

Writer Padmabhushan is filled with memorable performances. Ashish Vidhyarthi plays the hero's dad and the way he enacts his fun role is one of the highlights of the film. Rohini gets a meaty part and she is the soul of the film. All her scenes with Ahsish Vidhyarthi are entertaining. The female lead, Tina Shilipraj was effortless and gave a settled performance. She ably supports Suhas throughout the film.

Writer Padmabhushan is the story of every middle class family and is filled with moments that we can relate to. The climax will leave you with a heavy heart and the way women should be treated in the society and what they can achieve if they are supported, is shown in such a heartwarming manner. The runtime of two hours is also a bonus as there is hardly any moment that will bore you.

Last but not the least, the best part of Writer Padmabhushan is the writing. A simple story is given a heartwarming touch with moments that will keep you engaged. The editing is crisp and the fun showcased is also not over the top. The director nicely shifts the film into an emotional tone in the second half without making it melodramatic. The climax twist, realizations showcased during this time are thought of quite well by the director Shamukha Prashanth making this film an endearing watch. He is surely the one to watch out for.

Verdict

On the whole, Writer Padmabhushan is a small film with a big heart. It ticks all the boxes of comedy, emotions, performances, and a soothing message in the right manner. A clean film that leaves you in splits during the first half and triggers you emotionally in the second. Director Shanmukha Prashanth is the one to watch out for and actor Suhas is a star in the making. This is a film that should be watched with the entire family as the story, drama and narration is light hearted and yet moves you emotionally. Recommended.
