1. Teddy Sheringham – 40 Years, 268 Days

Teddy Sheringham holds the record as the oldest Premier League goalscorer in history. On December 26, 2006, while playing for West Ham United, Sheringham scored against Portsmouth at the age of 40 years and 268 days.

Sheringham was not known for pace or power in his later years but possessed exceptional game-reading and positioning skills, enabling him to score at an age when most players retire.

His record remains unmatched, and he is the only player to have scored in the Premier League beyond 40 years of age. He scored eight of the 11 ‘oldest’ Premier League goals in history.

2. James Milner – 39 Years, 239 Days

James Milner, a model of professionalism and fitness, became the second-oldest Premier League goalscorer on August 31, 2025, scoring for Brighton & Hove Albion against his former club, Manchester City.

At 39 years and 239 days, Milner’s goal came after a 6-year scoring drought and is a testament to his enduring quality across a 24-year Premier League career.

3. Dean Windass – 39 Years, 235 Days

Dean Windass, who played predominantly in the lower English divisions, is the third-oldest Premier League goalscorer.

At 39 years and 235 days old, Windass scored for Hull City in a match against Portsmouth on November 22, 2008.

4. Thiago Silva – 39 Years, 198 Days

Thiago Silva, the Brazilian defender known for his composure and leadership, scored a rare goal for Chelsea against Sheffield United on April 7, 2024, at the age of 39 years and 198 days.

Silva helped Chelsea win the Champions League in 2021 and then ended a four-year spell at Stamford Bridge in 2024.

5. Ashley Young – 39 Years, 148 Days
