Axar Patel left out of the vice-captaincy contention

Team India's one of the best all-rounders in recent times, Axar Patel, has been removed from the vice-captaincy position. In the previous T20I series against England back in January 2025, Axar was appointed as the vice-captain of the team. His performance was quite wonderful as well. However, the selectors have trusted Gill with the leadership role for the upcoming series.

Interestingly, Gill last played a T20I match for India in 2024. However, his performance in the IPL 2025 has been considerable. Moreover, his leadership in the Test series against England has impressed the selectors very much, which is why he received the position.
