Loan spells at Bath City Newport County, and Sunderland served as the forge for his physical and technical development.

Known for his explosive pace, power, and ability to use both feet with equal lethality, he departs the Vitality Stadium after 110 appearances and a final, parting gift: a last-minute winner against Tottenham on his 26th birthday earlier this week.

Director of Football Hugo Viana overseeing his first major January signing, echoed that sentiment, noting that Semenyo was the club's primary target for the window.

"Antoine is humble, hard-working, and totally focused on being a better footballer. He is ideal for us," Viana added.

Semenyo’s arrival is timely for Guardiola, who has been navigating a congested fixture list with several key injuries.

While he has predominantly operated on the left side of an attacking trio for Bournemouth, his versatility allows him to play across the front line.

City fans won't have to wait long to see their new man in action. Semenyo is eligible to feature immediately and could make a fairytale debut as early as tomorrow, Saturday, January 10 in the FA Cup third-round clash against Exeter City.

Should he be rested for that encounter, he is also cleared to play in Tuesday’s high-stakes Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle United at St. James' Park.
