After being put into bat, UP Warriorz posted a competitive total of 154/8 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to valuable contributions from their top and middle order. Meg Lanning (54) and Harleen Deol (47) offered solid starts, but the rest of the lineup struggled to sustain momentum against disciplined bowling from DCW’s attack.
The bowlers were quite poised and sharp and didn't allow the rest of the batters to settle down. Shafali Verma was particularly brilliant with her spell where she bowled four overs and claimed two wickets and conceded just 16 runs. Marizanne Kapp also claimed two wickets, and didn;t allow the batters to put up a mammoth total on the board.
When DC came in to bat, Shafali and Lizelle Lee gave a great start to the game, scoring quick runs in the powerplay. As the game progressed, Lee's powerpacked performance helped them set a base for the rest of the batters. Since they had wickets in their hands, Laura Wolvaardt and Jemimah Rodrigues stuck around and tried to collect the runs at regular intervals.
Since Laura stuck around till the end, DC were able to win the game in the last over. Most of the games have been quite thrilling in the ongoing WPL 2026, increasing the interest of the audience. Meanwhile, Shafali Verma won the Player of the Match for an all-round performance.
