Duleep Trophy 2025: Shubman Gill to lead North Zone, five players from J&K

Indian men's test team captain Shubman Gill has been named as the captain for the North Zone for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025. For the first time, five players from Jammu and Kashmir were selected in the North Zone squad, after their great run in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.

Gill, Arshdeep, and Kamboj are named in the squad

Along with captain Shubman Gill, pacers Arshdeep Singh and Anshul Kamboj, who were part of the test series in England, have also been named in the North Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025.

Along with them, Delhi and India pacer Harshit Rana, former U-19 World Cup winner Yash Dhull, and Ayush Badoni have also found a place in the squad.

Haryana opener Ankit Kumar, who had scored 574 runs in 14 innings at an average of nearly 59 in Ranji Trophy 2024-25, has been named as the vice-captain of the squad.

Since the Asia Cup and the Duleep Trophy 2025 are scheduled to collide with each other, Shubham Rohilla, Gurnoor Brar, and Anuj Thakral will replace Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana, respectively, if they get named in the Asia Cup 2025 squad.

Five players from J&K

After their historical quarterfinal appearance in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Jammu and Kashmir players were rewarded with Duleep Trophy selections. Opener Shubham Khajuria and seamer Auqib Nabi, who finished the last season as the second highest wicket-taker in Ranji Trophy with 44 wickets in 8 matches, have been named in the squad.

Yudhvir Singh Charak, Sahil Lotra, and Kanhaiya Wadhawan are the other players from J&K.

Replacements: Shubham Rohilla to replace Gill, Gurnoor Brar to replace Arshdeep, and Anuj Thakral to replace Harshit in case of any India commitments during the tournament.
