After recovering from injury, former captain Heather Knight made a return to the squad, reinforcing England’s line-up with her invaluable experience.
Nat Sciver-Brunt leads the side as captain, continuing her impressive form, both with bat and ball. The squad also includes four specialist spinners, a strategic decision reflecting the subcontinent conditions expected during the tournament.
The squad features a blend of established players and fresh talent, with six players set to make their World Cup debuts. Notably, Sarah Glenn and Danni Wyatt-Hodge have returned to the ODI squad after missing out on the summer series against India, boosting England’s spin and batting options, respectively.

Head coach Charlotte Edwards expressed her pride and excitement over the squad selection, emphasizing the honour of representing one’s country at a World Cup. She acknowledged the tough challenge ahead but remains optimistic about England’s potential, stating, “If we play our best cricket, we can compete with anyone.”
Edwards also highlighted the tactical inclusion of an extra spinner due to Indian pitches favouring spin bowling. Edwards mentioned the disappointment of some notable omissions, including Kate Cross, Maia Bouchier, and Alice Davidson-Richards, highlighting the competitiveness for places.
“Conditions mean we have gone for the extra spinner, and we’re lucky to be able to have such depth in this department, it’s fantastic to welcome Sarah Glenn back. That does mean there’s no room for Kate Cross, Maia Bouchier, or Alice Davidson-Richards, which will be disappointing for them,” she added.
