Last year, the junior Indian women's hockey team secured a fourth-place finish, marking its best result since achieving a bronze in 2013.

In the ongoing FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup 2023, the Indian women's team finds itself in Pool C, competing in Santiago, Chile. Following their match against Canada, India will also confront Belgium and former champions Germany.
This 12-day event, taking place at Centro Deportivo de Hockey Cesped, signifies the 10th edition of the FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup.
Sixteen teams, evenly distributed across four groups (A–D), will participate in the junior women’s hockey World Cup. The top two teams from each group will progress to the quarter-finals, while the remaining teams will engage in classification rounds.
