England's former captain, Michael Atherton, had a lot of things to say about the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. While writing for The Times, Atherton made it clear that India deserved to level the series since they had won the maximum number of sessions in the Tests.

Moreover, India's loss at Edgbaston wasn't anyone's fault, as they lost by just 22 runs. Mohammed Siraj, who was at the crease, tried to defend the ball, but it somehow slipped and struck the stumps, dismissing the batter. The Men in Blue worked extremely hard in all the Tests, hence, the win in the last one was necessary.
India deserved their draw; anything else would have been a travesty. They won more sessions over the five matches, a discrepancy skewed by the margin of victory at Edgbaston. They had the leading run-scorer, Gill, and the leading wicket-taker, Siraj. There were four Indian batsmen in the top six run-scorers, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and Gill, and four wicket-takers, Jasprit Bumrah, Deep, Krishna, and Siraj, in the top six wicket-takers."
Despite playing his first series as a captain, Shubman Gill looked super confident and enthusiastic on the field. It was because of him and the confidence he instilled in the team that helped India stay on track and win the matches. Well, Gill was also the Player of the Series for scoring 754 runs in five matches.
As a young captain, the traces of former skipper Virat Kohli are quite evident in Gill. The energy, the fire, the hunger for scoring runs, and the encouragement shown towards the teammates are so far quite similar between the two. After playing under Kohli for a very long time, it's safe to say that the 25-year-old player has learnt quite a lot of things from his senior.
