Gujarat Giants Women edge past Delhi Capitals Women by 3 runs in thrilling WPL 2026 match

Gujarat Giants Women posted 174/9 and held off a strong Delhi Capitals Women chase, winning by 3 runs in the 17th match of the Women’s Premier League 2026.

The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 has seen many last over thrillers, but the match no. 15 between Gujarat Giants Women and Delhi Capitals Women was one of the best in the tournament. The Giants defended nine runs in the last over as Sophie Devine bowled an incredible over. Interestingly, the 19th over Ashleigh Gardner went for 20 runs,

It was DC's decision to bowl first, putting GG to bat. Beth Mooney slammed a brilliant half-century and gave a wonderful start in the powerplays. The Giants kept losing wickets at regular intervals but Anushka Sharma handled the innings well towards the end, scoring 39 off 25 balls, including eight boundaries. Even Tanuja Kanwer's solid cameo of 21 off 11 balls, including three boundaries and one six helped GG score 174 runs in the first innings.

DC's Shree Charani claimed four wickets in four overs and was the star bowler of the innings. The rest of the bowlers did support her from the other end but GG reached a respectable total in the end.

Sophie Devine's experience turned tables for Gujarat Giants

The Delhi Capitals' batters had a very forgetable night today. None of the players tried to form partnerships and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They didn't a strong start and neither did the middle order batters supported each other. However, towards the end, Nikki Prasad and Sneh Rana stuck around and slammed 20 runs in the 19th over, bringing the last over score to nine runs.

But, GG had their experienced weapon Sophie Devine, who had already defended seven runs against DC in their first encounter this season. When Gardner handed the ball to Devine, the pressure started to show up on the faces of the DC fans.

This time, Devine gave away a few extra runs but maintained her variations till the end, played with the batters' minds and dismissed two set batters in the last over, clinching victory for the Giants. With this win, they went one step closer to the knockout stage.
