In a thrilling encounter at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai Indians Women pulled off one of the most remarkable run chases in Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 history. Chasing a challenging 192/5 set by Gujarat Giants Women, MIW reached 193/3 in 19.2 overs, snatching victory with four balls to spare.

The match quickly became a showcase of big hitting and calculated risk, as both sides displayed attacking batting against quality bowling. The Giants’ innings was anchored by aggressive contributions from Georgia Wareham (43 off 33) and Bharti Fulmali (36 off 15), who kept the scoreboard ticking and forced MIW to stay alert throughout the first innings.

At the heart of MIW’s chase was a breathtaking innings from Harmanpreet Kaur, who smashed 71 off 43 balls with a strike rate over 165, anchoring her side’s response despite early hiccups. Her ability to accelerate at critical intervals kept the required run rate in check and put the Giants’ bowlers under mounting pressure. Joining her in the crucial middle-over stand was Nicola Carey, whose 38 off 23 provided both stability and momentum at the right time.

Fielding issues by the Giants also proved costly, as dropped chances allowed the MIW pair to build a partnership that ultimately tilted the game. In the end, MI managed to chase down the target with four balls to spare. The WPL 2026 matches have been quite interesting to watch and the fans can expect more such games in the future.
