Harshit Rana, the captain of the North Delhi Strikers, found himself in the spotlight again during Match 19 of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025. In the third over of West Delhi Lions’ chase on August 11 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Rana uprooted batter Ayush Doseja and then gestured dramatically toward him, signaling that he should “go back to the pavilion.”

The send-off was deemed aggressive under the league’s code of conduct, and Rana accepted the charge without protest. He was fined 10% of his match fees for committing a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5, which penalizes gestures or actions likely to provoke an adverse reaction.

“Harshit Rana admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.5 (Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the Match) and accepted the Match Referee's sanction,” the DPL's official statement read.

The festival of fines didn’t stop there. North Delhi Strikers batter Yajas Sharma and West Delhi Lions counterpart Krish Yadav were each fined 20% of their match fees for using audible obscenities during the same game. Both accepted their sanctions, which fell under Article 2.3 of the conduct code.

On the field, it was a gritty contest. Batting first, North Delhi Strikers managed 165/9, with Sarthak Ranjan leading the scoring with 42 from 33 balls and Arjun Rapria contributing a brisk 40 off 22. For West Delhi, Mayank Gusain impressed with 3 wickets for just 2 runs in one over, while Shubham Dubey chipped in with 2/26.

West Delhi’s reply, though buoyed by Hrithik Shokeen’s ferocious 51 from 24, fell short at 154/8. Deepanshu Gulia secured a pivotal 3/44 to seal an 11-run win for the Strikers.
