Register and assemble your squad

To get started, you first need to register and assemble your squad. You have a budget of £100 million to pick 15 players including 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders, and 3 forwards. Note, you can select no more than three players from any single Premier League club.

It’s important to balance your squad by choosing a mix of star players and budget-friendly options to build a competitive team.

Choosing players

When selecting players, take into account their recent form, upcoming fixtures, and their role within their clubs, such as whether they are regular starters or set-piece specialists.

Certain positions, like attacking midfielders or forwards, tend to contribute more points, so choosing wisely here is key.

Avoid players who have injury concerns or are prone to rotation, as this can affect your team’s performance. Including popular and consistent performers like Mohamed Salah or Erling Haaland can also be beneficial, particularly as captains, since captaincy doubles the points earned.

Budget and squad structure

Managing your budget effectively is crucial. Prioritize investing in your starting eleven as they contribute the bulk of the points. Your bench players can be low-cost options who provide cover in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Many savvy managers rotate their cheap defenders and goalkeepers depending on the difficulty of fixtures, maximizing points over time.

A common approach is to strengthen your midfield and forward line since these players tend to accumulate higher scores.

Scoring points

Points are awarded for a variety of contributions, including goals, assists, clean sheets, saves, and defensive actions like tackles and interceptions.

Conversely, negative points are given for offenses such as yellow or red cards, own goals, or missed penalties.

Choosing the right captain each gameweek is especially important because they earn double points which can significantly impact your overall standings.

Managing your team

Throughout the season, you will be allowed one free transfer each gameweek to adjust your squad.

Additional transfers will cost you points, so make them judiciously to improve your lineup based on players’ form and fixture changes.

Additionally, you have access to special chips such as the Wildcard (which allows unlimited transfers for a week), Bench Boost (which scores points from your bench players), Triple Captain (which triples your captain’s points), and Free Hit (which provides unlimited transfers for a single gameweek).

Using these chips strategically can give you a competitive edge.

Bonus points

The three best-performing players in each match will be rewarded with bonus points. Three points will be awarded to the highest-scoring player, two to the second-best, and one to the third.

Examples of how bonus point ties will be resolved are as follows:

  • If there is a tie for first place, Players 1 & 2 will receive 3 points each, and Player 3 will receive 1 point.
  • If there is a tie for second place, Player 1 will receive 3 points and Players 2 and 3 will receive 2 points each.
  • If there is a tie for third place, Player 1 will receive 3 points, Player 2 will receive 2 points, and Players 3 & 4 will receive 1 point each.
