In the 3rd ODI against Australia, with regular opener Shubman Gill rested, fans anticipated Virat Kohli to partner with captain Rohit Sharma to open the innings. To everyone's surprise, when the 2nd innings began at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, it was Washington Sundar who walked out with Rohit to open the batting.

Seeing this, fans took to social media to talk abou the new but strange opening pair, but did not known how to react.
The first innings concluded with Australia posting a formidable total of 352/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Although David Warner reached his half-century, he struggled in the sweltering heat and eventually fell victim to Prasidh Krishna's bowling.
Following Warner's departure, Mitchell Marsh joined Steve Smith, and they formed a crucial partnership. However, both batsmen seemed to be affected by the scorching conditions in Rajkot, with drink breaks occurring nearly every over.
Just before reaching his century, Marsh was dismissed, and Mohammed Siraj later claimed Smith's wicket. Nevertheless, Marnus Labuschagne displayed great resilience, holding the innings together even as wickets fell at the other end.
Among the Indian bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav claimed two. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna secured one wicket each.
