Pakistan did the trick by not sending Saim Ayub, who had scored a hat-trick of ducks in the Asia Cup 2025. The 2-time Champions sent experienced Fakhar Zaman to open the innings along with Sahibzada Farhan.
Hardik Pandya had produced an edge from Farhan on duck, but Abhishek Sharma dropped an easy catch at third man. Fakhar then went after Jasprit Bumrah, who looked off color tonight.
However, Hardik was able to dismiss Zaman with a slower ball, which carried to Sanju Samson after producing an edge. But, after Zaman’s dismissal, India could have got the momentum if Kuldeep Yadav had not dropped an easy catch of Ayub in the short fine leg.
Bumrah then switched ends, but Farhan was still able to score 13 runs from Bumrah’s third over. Bumrah’s 34/0 in three overs is the most expensive three-over opening spell he has ever bowled in T20Is.
