However, in the match against South Africa, the Newlands pitch in Cape Town surprised everyone as the 2nd Test concluded in just 107 overs, establishing itself as the shortest Test match in history. In a mere day and a half, India secured a 7-wicket victory in the 2nd Test, becoming the first Asian side to triumph in a Test at Cape Town.

Jasprit Bumrah played a crucial role on the 2nd day, clinching a 6-wicket haul. Mohammed Siraj secured the lone wicket in the 2nd innings of Aiden Markram, while Mukesh Kumar claimed two wickets (taken on Day 1). Prasidh Krishna also contributed with a wicket, dismissing Kagiso Rabada for 2 in the second innings. Aiden Markram emerged as the standout player, navigating the challenges of the tricky surface and amassing 106 runs.
On Day 1, a total of 23 wickets fell, with Mohammed Siraj leading a relentless bowling attack by claiming six wickets for just 15 runs. Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar contributed with two wickets each, restricting South Africa to a mere 55 runs in the 1st innings.

When India batted, only Rohit Sharma (39), Shubman Gill (36), and Virat Kohli (46) managed to contribute in double digits, with six Indian batters departing for a duck. Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Nandre Burger each took three wickets, complemented by one run-out, leading to the dismissal of the Men in Blue.
With all the drama that unfolded in just a day and a half, fans flocked to social media, particularly X (formerly known as Twitter), expressing surprise that no one had criticized the Cape Town pitch yet.
Regarding the series, the two captains collected The Freedom Trophy as the series concluded in a 1-1 deadlock. India will now shift their focus to preparations for hosting Afghanistan in a 3-match T20 series.
