India vs England 3rd Test Day 5: Ravindra Jadeja led India’s lower-order resistance to extend play to the final session of the Lord’s test

India’s Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj made Ben Stokes’ England wait for an entire session and took play to the final session of the Lord’s test of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.
At the stroke of Tea, India finished at 163/9 - a brilliant resistance by the lower-order led by Jadeja, who completed his fourth consecutive half century. He and Bumrah put together a partnership of 35 from over 22 overs, blocking fiery spells by Stokes, Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse - as well as a few overs from Joe Root and Shoaib Bashir.

While only a few would have been expecting the match to carry over to the final session, the duo along with Siraj played time and frustrated the England bowler, who sparingly bowled a bad ball. Jadeja also completed his half century, but without the swashbuckling celebrations that usually accompanies the milestone. Indian supporters, at Lord’s and those following the match from across the world, will be hoping that the all-rounder carries on to take India home.
This, however, is still a long way away, with the new ball due in 10 overs and Archer expected to start soon after tea.
Jadeja’s innings drew praise from commentators Ravi Shastri and Nasser Hussain, who hailed it as ‘monumental’ and also lauded the all-rounder for showing character.
