India vs West Indies: H2H in tests

Although in recent years the West Indies have not been able to give much fight to the Indian team, they still dominate India in head-to-head stats in tests, due to their great team of the past.

In the 100 test, both India and the West Indies teams have faced each other in tests; India won 23 times while the West Indies won 30 matches. 47 tests between them have ended in a draw.

India have won the last five test matches played against West Indies.

Team news and match preview

Obviously, India, led by Shubman Gill, who passed the test in England, will be high in confidence. Shubman Gill broke multiple records during the England series; moreover, they had some outstanding performances from the bowlers as well.

But, at home, the focus will shift to the spinners as Axar Patel made an entry to the squad, with Ravindra Jadeja now being the vice-captain in the absence of Rishabh Pant. Sai Sudharasan has been kept in the squad, and it will be interesting to see if he continues to be India’s No.3 for the test match.

The combination of the team will be key for India as they would love to dominate the home series, which will later help them be among the top two teams of the ICC World Test Championship points table.

One injury concern for India as a few reports suggested that Washington Sundar hurt his finger during the training session.

West Indies, after a dissapointing series against the might Aussies, where they lost 0-3 at home, will look to bounce back in this series. Captain Roston Chase will be key to their success, alongside Shai Hope and Brandon King.

But their bowling unit, including Jayden Seales and Anderson Phillip, will hold the key as well. Otherwise, India will keep on piling huge scores throughout the series.
