An update has emerged on Rinku Singh’s situation after the India star traveled back home during the T20 World Cup 2026 due to his father’s health concern.

India's star batter Rinku Singh is likely to join the team ahead of the clash against Zimbabwe on February 26. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak revealed the player's presence in the team for the upcoming fixture. Rinku traveled back to his home to stay with his family members as his father is suffering from stage-4 liver cancer and is on ventilator support.

However, the star batter will be back before the match. He is an essential part of the team, especially in the middle order as India a finsiher who can conclude the matches. The upcoming matches are going to be quite intriguing and crucial for India and hence, they'll need Rinku Singh in the batting lineup.
"And Rinku, his father wasn't well. So he went back. I think he is coming back today evening," said Kotak during the press conference.
He has been an incredible fielder in the matches as well, taking catches and stopping the balls from reaching the boundaries. While his batting hasn't been great in the campaign, his involvement on the field has been immense.
India will have to win their upcoming matches in order to qualify for the semi-finals. If they lose even one game, their chances of qualification will be nil. In the match against Zimbabwe, India will eye a victory as well as a higher NRR since they have -3.80 currently. South Africa and West Indies have much higher NRR then India and hence, they have a higher chances of qualifying.
This is a home tournament for India and it will be a shame if they failed to qualify for the semi-finals. Meanwhile, the players will also have to look at their form and performance since they have gotten a lot of chances in the past.
