India suffer a setback ahead of their crucial T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 match against Zimbabwe as a key player flies back home following a medical emergency in the family.

India's star batter Rinku Singh has traveled back to his home town ahead of India's clash against Zimbabwe on February 26 in Chennai. Reports suggest that his father, who has been battling cancer for a year, has been in a serious condition. Hence, Rinku has taken an emergency leave and went to his home town to be with his family.

His participation in the upcoming game remains uncertain as of now. Since the match is in two days, he is most likely to stay back with his family and might join the team before the West Indies clash. Rinku has had a rough outing in the T20 World Cup 2026 as he has failed to contribute much in every game.
The left-handed batter was also missing from the team when they arrived in Chennai a few days ago. The fans are anticipating his return as he is a crucial batter in the middle overs. Even though he hasn't contributed much in the tournament yet, his performance on the field has been incredible. He has stopped multiple boundaries and has been quite value on the field.
In their first match of the Super 8 clash against South Africa, India lost by a huge margin. That led to the decrease in their NRR, which is currently -3.80. Now, if they want to qualify for the knockouts, they'll have to win both of their matches against West Indies and Zimbabwe while keeping a check on their NRR.
They'll play against Zimbabwe on February 26 and West Indies on March 1. Both the matches are extremely crucial for India and they would have to win them to stay in the semi-final race. There are a few issues that the management need to address in order to win the match in the upcoming days.
