India lost the match against South Africa. While talking to the Indian Express, SKY mentioned that Axar was angry and he spoke to him and apologised. He also stated that the conversation was hard but they were fine the next day. Axar was dropped for two games, first against Zimbabwe and second against South Africa.
“He was very angry, and he should have been. He’s an experienced player, he leads a franchise. He should be angry. I apologised. I told him I made a mistake and I’m sorry, but it was a call taken for the team. It was a hard conversation. He took it in his stride and we talked it through the next day,” Suryakumar Yadav said as quoted by Indian Express.
“India vs South Africa was the eye-opener. I never had any doubt in this team, but it tightened our screws. After that there was no option of coming back. For us, Zimbabwe was a pre-quarter-final. West Indies was the quarter-final. Then the semis and the final. We had to play every game like a knockout," he added.

The Indian cricket team received INR 131 crores from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after winning the T20 World Cup 2026. The team defeated New Zealand by 96 runs to put up a dominant show in the tournament. Meanwhile, they also played well throughout the tournament and hence, received a whopping amount.
The prize amount is higher than what the T20 World Cup 2024 winning team received. The players received INR 6 crores each and the rest of the money was divided among the support staff. The Men in Blue won the tournament for the third time and the first team to do it at home.
