Liverpool FC has agreed in principle to sell striker Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal for $62 million plus add-ons, ending his three-year stint where he scored 40 goals in 143 matches.

As per the latest football transfer news, Liverpool FC has agreed a deal in principle of $62m plus add-ons for Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan striker had joined the Reds in 2022 and, since then, has scored 40 goals in 143 games for the current Premier League champions.

Liverpool earlier had rejected a £61 million offer from Al-Nassr in January. But with Alexander Isak in mind, they have now verbally agreed to a deal in principle of $62m plus add-ons for the striker. The deal will be for three years and continue till June 2028, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Nunez had scored 18 goals in Jurgen Klopp's final season at Anfield. However, he only scored seven goals last season under Arne Slot. With Slot now looking to create a more diverse attacking side, Liverpool wants to make room for other players.

Moreover, Liverpool wants to go all-in for Alexander Isak, a deal they have been looking for since the start of the transfer window. Newcastle United have rejected them twice, but with Isak wanting to move, Liverpool is making space for Isak by selling Nunez.
Al-Hilal, under former Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi, wants to dominate the Saudi Pro League and Asian football. From the start of the transfer window, they had their eyes set on someone like Darwin Nunez.
They have been looking to send their current striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, to some other clubs on loan or on a permanent sale.
With the Darwin Nunez deal on the verge of completion, their plan to remove Mitrovic from the squad and have more attacking threat at the top will be fulfilled.
