The Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) has long been the gold standard for List A cricket in India, a tournament where domestic stalwarts and rising superstars test their mettle in the 50-over format. However, the 2025-26 season has witnessed a statistical explosion that has redefined the record books.

At the heart of this revolution is an elite trio of batters who are currently engaged in a historic race for supremacy. As of January 3, 2026, the list of most centuries in Vijay Hazare Trophy history has three names standing head and shoulders above the rest: Ankit Bawne Ruturaj Gaikwad, and the meteoric Devdutt Padikkal.

1. Ankit Bawne (15 Hundreds)

Maharashtra veteran Ankit Bawne currently holds the throne with 15 centuries in 92 innings. Bawne has been the bedrock of Maharashtra’s middle order for over a decade.

Unlike the flashy nature of modern T20-influenced openers, Bawne’s game is built on old-school grit and incredible game awareness.

Reaching the summit in 92 innings is a testament to his longevity and consistency. He remains the only player to have crossed the 4,000-run mark in the history of the competition.

2. Ruturaj Gaikwad (14 Hundreds)

If Bawne represents the marathon, Ruturaj Gaikwad represents a high-speed sprint. With 14 hundreds in just 55 innings, Gaikwad’s conversion rate is nothing short of staggering.

He averages nearly one century every four matches, a statistic that would make even international legends envious.

Gaikwad’s legend in this tournament was sealed during the 2022-23 season when he smashed a world-record seven sixes in a single over and equaled Robin Uthappa’s then-record for most centuries.

Today, he sits just one ton behind his teammate Bawne, having overtaken the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the domestic peaking order long ago. With his technical poise and ability to switch gears, it seems only a matter of time before he claims the top spot.

3. Devdutt Padikkal (13 Hundreds)

Perhaps the most terrifying statistic on this list belongs to Karnataka’s Devdutt Padikkal. With 13 centuries in a mere 33 innings, Padikkal isn't just playing the game; he is breaking it.

His form in the current 2025-26 season has been "Bradman-esque." Just today, on January 3, 2026, Padikkal smashed his fourth hundred in five matches of the ongoing tournament, scoring a brilliant 108 against Tripura.

His ability to notch up a century once every 2.5 innings is unprecedented in List A history. With an average hovering above 80, the left-hander has become the most discussed name in the national selection meetings ahead of the New Zealand ODI series.
