As per reports, the ties between the agency and Nitish Reddy broke during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as he joined another agency. The agency Square The One Private Limited has filed a petition under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, alleging breach of the management agreement and non-payment of dues.
The Delhi High Court is most likely to hear the case on July 28. The petition requests the appointment of an independent arbitrator to resolve disputes concerning the alleged unlawful breach of contract and the player's failure to pay the agreed contractual dues.
As per the agency, they had bought many brand collaborations and commercial partnerships for the player but he has failed to acknowledge everything. Moreover, Reddy has also claimed that he bought the collaborations on his own and that the brand had no contributions in it. Nitish Reddy was with the agency since 2021, when he was not as popular as he is today.
“Ninety percent of such disputes do not reach court and are resolved privately. But in this case, Nitish refused to pay any money and claimed he had secured the deals himself,” a source told India Today. Reddy's performance in the BGT series in 2024 was quite significant. His popularity rose after scoring a century against Australia.
Currently, Reddy is ruled out of the Test team because of his injury. He was a part of the Indian squad for the England tour and played in the first two matches. Reddy has evolved as a player and has been an essential part of the team. As a young player, he'll surely not want to get in legal troubles and concentrate on playing cricket.
