After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first to put pressure on the board. However, Oman struck early with the wicket of Saim Ayub in the first over.
Things could have gone worse for Pakistan if Mohammed Haris had not been dropped on 3 in the third over of the inning, who went on to add 66 from 43 balls to take Pakistan to a strong position till the 12th over.
But, back-to-back wickets from Aamir Kaleem stopped the momentum of Pakistan, and more wickets in the middle overs could only take Pakistan to 160/7 in the first inning.
