Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka fired a warning to Pakistan ahead of their clash in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 on February 28. The hosts have been eliminated from the tournament after losing to England and New Zealand in the Super 8 stage. While their group stage performance was phenomenal, their Super 8 performance was equally disappointing.

Meanwhile, skipper Shanaka mentioned during the post-match presentation that they are looking forward to finishing the tournament on a high and that would help them perform in the upcoming match against Pakistan. This also means that if Pakistan lose this game, they'll be eliminated from the tournament.

"It is embarrassing to disappoint the home crowd. They have been very supportive. We started really well but that partnership took the game away from us. [on finishing the tournament on high] Absolutely one more game. We need to finish it high. Hopefully, we will do our best game in that game," said Dasun Shanaka at the post-match presentation.

What is Pakistan's qualification scenario?

Pakistan have lost one game against England and their first match against New Zealand was abandoned due to rain. Hence, this upcoming clash against Sri Lanka becomes the most important game for them. If they lose, they'll be out of the tournament.

New Zealand have won one game and if they win their next match against England, they'll be through to the semi-finals even before Pakistan's match. The NZ vs ENG match is on February 27 while Pakistan will play against Sri Lanka on February 28.
