Pakistan have lodged an official complaint with the match referee following a controversial Decision Review System (DRS) call during the final over of the third One Day International against Bangladesh in Mirpur. The dramatic moment occurred during the tense closing stages of the run chase and ultimately played a key role in Bangladesh sealing the match and the series.

Bangladesh went on to win the match by 11 runs, securing a 2–1 victory in the three-match ODI series. The decision in question happened on the penultimate delivery of the final over when Pakistan were still chasing the target.

Pakistan needed 14 runs from the last over. After the first four deliveries yielded just two runs, the equation came down to 12 runs needed from two balls. Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain then delivered a ball that went down the leg side to Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi. On-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena initially signalled the delivery as a wide.

However, Bangladesh players quickly opted to review the decision for LBW. Replays later showed that the ball had brushed the toe end of Afridi’s bat. Because of that contact, the wide call was overturned, leaving Pakistan needing 12 runs from the final delivery instead of two balls. Afridi was then stumped on the last ball of the match, confirming Bangladesh’s victory.

Pakistan’s management later raised concerns about the circumstances under which the review was taken. According to reports, the team believes Bangladesh may have called for the review after a replay of the delivery was shown on the stadium’s big screen.

Under standard DRS protocols, teams are expected to decide on a review before any replay is displayed to avoid gaining additional information from video footage. Despite the post-match dispute, Bangladesh’s victory ensured a memorable series triumph, while Pakistan were left frustrated after a dramatic finish that hinged on a single decision in the final over.
